Translatus is in the process of migrating to a new project management/bidding system called TDABids. Project managers are using the online software to contact translators, issue purchase orders and distribute files. In summary, all Translatus projects are being managed from start-to-finish in this new system.

The person, company and/or agency inviting you to join TDABids.com is named in the automated email you received. TDABids.com is an open bidding system. Buyers will contact you directly to request quotes, inquire about your availability, issue purchase orders, distribute files and receive completed work files. In summary, buyers will manage projects from start-to-finish in this new system.

Yes. In order to receive project requests, view and download project files, set your rates and communicate with LSDs/Buyers, you must to use TDABids. TDABids manages all of these functions and allows you to access your projects or check for new projects anytime and anywhere in the world.
Back to top What is an invitation code? Do I need one to register?
An invitation code—a 10-digit alphanumeric sequence—is included in the automated e-mail generated when an LSD or Buyer invites a translator to join TDABids to work on a specific project. Click on the link in the email to be redirected to the TDABids registration page. Complete the simple registration form to view all of the project details.
You do not need an invitation code to register with TDABids. If you do not have an invitation code, leave the field blank and continue with your registration.

You will be asked to provide your name, e-mail address, mailing address and telephone number. Other information required to complete the registration includes your language pairs, rates, background and work experience.
TDABids does not require you to include your bank account information. However, you can opt to include that information for Buyers to access when making a payment.

Yes. You don't have to be invited in order to register with TDABids. Simply leave the invitation code field blank and continue with the registration process.

If you have lost your invitation code, you do not have to request a new one. Go to the TDABids website (
http://www.tdabids.com) click on the registration link under Translators and follow the instructions, leaving the invitation code field blank.

No. There is no fee to join TDABids. The registration is free. Language Professionals —translators, copyeditors, proofreaders, writers, etc.—will not be charged a commission or fee for using the TDABids system.

TDABids was designed with your working needs in mind. It manages and organizes your projects and keeps track of your LSD and Buyer contacts. TDABids.com gives you access to your project records, rates, files and information at anytime and anywhere. What information do I need to include in my TDABIds profile?
1) Contact information: name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, time zone and country.
2) Background and experience: native language, language pairs (source and target language), area of expertise and background.
3) Software skills: for example: Word 2007, CS3, Photoshop etc,
4) Prices and capacity: rates you charge for translating, proofreading and the number of words you translate/ proofread per day.
5) Billing information: including invoicing instructions, paypal or moneybooker addresses, or transfer account numbers.

Why do I need to update my profile?
Changes in your contact information, rates, software use, areas of expertise, etc should be updated in your profile. An up-to-date profile ensures that you receive requests in a timely manner from Buyers/LSDs and that those requests match your skills and expertise.

1) Log in to TDABids
2) Click on the
My Profile tab
3) Click on
Background & Experience in the left menu
4) Click on the
“Edit" button at the bottom. The
Change Languages page will appear.
5) To delete a language pair, click the red ‘x’ next to it.
6) To add a language pair, select your source language and your target language from the drop down lists provided below. If you also translate the target language into the source, then check the
‘and opposite’ box. For example, English into Italian, and Italian into English.
7) Click on the
“Add” button. This will update your language pairs.
8) Click on the
“Apply Changes” button to save changes made.

TDABids is committed to providing all of our users with a secure system to upload their documents and relay their personal information to ensure confidentiality at all times.
Your personal information and the files you upload are protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology (128 bit encryption). Our web security system requires that customers use a browser that supports at least 40 bit encryption -- Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 7.0 or higher), Firefox (version 3.0 or higher). The use of these browsers ensures that data is authenticated and encrypted as it's transmitted. Furthermore, all information sent back and forth from our server requesting personal information is validated by a unique username and password established during the registration process. TDABids creates a random session ID attached to your encrypted web connection each time you login for increased security.

How do I log into my account?
To log into your account:

Your username is the email address you entered when you first registered with TDABids. All notifications and project messages from TDABids will be sent to this address.
Back to top I am entering my password (or username) correctly, but I keep getting the error message “Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again”. Why? What am I doing wrong?
Your email address has not been verified. After registering with TDABids, you would have received an email from
'noreply@tdabids' with the subject title
“Notification of Registration” to confirm your username and password. It contains a link to verify your e-mail address.
Please click on this link which will redirect you to the TDABids website. You will then be able to log into TDABids with your username and password.

To retrieve your password:
1) Click on the
Login link in the upper right corner of our web page.
2) Click on the link provided in the section
Login Troubleshooting at the bottom right of the Login page.
3) Enter your username (your email address you used to open your TDABids account).
4) An email will be sent to the registered email address with your password.

You can remove or hide the Welcome screen in your Account Settings after logging into TDABids.

In order to receive project notifications via e-mail, your account must be set to ‘Active’. You only set your account to 'Inactive' when you don't wish to receive any emails or project requests (e.g. when you are on vacation, sick etc.)

No. After you complete the registration form, you will need to complete two additional steps to activate your account. First, you will receive an email from 'noreply@tdabids.com' with a link to
verify your email address. Please click on this link to log into TDABids using your email address and password. Once you have logged in, follow the steps to switch your status to ‘ACTIVE’ to receive project requests.

Visit the
Login page and follow the instructions on how to retrieve your password. If you don’t receive an email from TDABids containing your password within a few minutes, that means that you do not have an account registered under the email address you provided with TDABids.
TDABids will have sent you a confirmation e-mail when you registered. Check your email account for an e-mail from
noreply@tdabids.com.

Getting projects
I've received an email from TDABids saying I have a project request. I have never used TDABids before. What should I do?
You will need to log in to TDABids to view the quote and project files before deciding whether to accept or decline the request.
Important! Your username is the email address the project request was sent to. If you do not remember your password or have lost it, please follow these instructions to retrieve it.
1) Log into TDABids
http://www.tdabids.com with your username and password.
2) View the quote. See
4.7 Viewing the project quote in the Assignments matrix.
3) View the files. See
7.1 Downloading files.
4) Approve or decline the project request. See
Placing a bid/Accepting the project or
Declining a bid request/Cancelling a request.
Once you approve a project/bid request, please wait for the Buyer/LSD to send you the Purchase Order (PO) before you can begin working on the project.
Back to top What is the bidding deadline?
The bidding deadline is the timeframe for you to confirm your availability to work on a project. If you do not wish to work on a project or will not be available, you will be asked to decline the availability request. If you do not confirm your availability for a project by the bidding deadline, the Buyer or LSD may assign it to someone else.
I can see the project details but I can't see my quote.
The quote is contained in the
Assignments table. Access the
Assignments table and click on the
‘read more’ link (fifth row) to view your quote.
To access the
Assignments table and view the quote,
1) Click on the
My Projects tab at the top. You will see a list of projects you have worked on so far.
2) Select the project you want by clicking on the project name (marked in blue). The matrix will appear on your
Workflow page. If you cannot see the table, click on
Workflow in the left menu.
3) The quote will appear in the fifth row of the table. Click on the ‘read more’ link to view the quote.

Back to top I noticed after I approved the bid request that the project had extra words. Can I inform the Buyer/LSD and change the quote to issue an amended purchase order?¶
Yes, you can amend the quote/purchase order. Once you amend the quote/purchase order, TDABids will automatically notify the Buyer or LSD of the change. After the LSD or Buyer views the amended quote, they can approve or reject it. See

Note: Your amended quote/purchase order must be approved by the Buyer or LSD . Likewise, Buyers/LSDs cannot proceed with a quote amendment until after you have approved it.

The Buyer/LSD has amended the quote(bid). I have not received the purchase order yet. How do I approve/reject an amendment?
You will receive an e-mail notification with the subject
“TDABids: New Bid Request” with a link to the amended project detail.
1) Click on the link provided in the e-mail. You will be asked to log into your account with your e-mail address and password. The
Assignments table will appear on
your Workflow page with the amended detail highlighted in pink.
2) To approve the amended bid, tick the empty check box next to that project detail.
3) To disapprove or edit the amended bid, click on the
“Edit/pencil” icon. Enter your new bid or amendment and click on the
"Update" button. The project detail will be highlighted in yellow.
4) Click on the
“Place Your Bid” button to send it for review.

1) Log into TDABids.com
2) Open the project (Click on

Yes. You can recall your bid before the Buyer accepts it. To recall your bid:
1) Access your project. The
Assignments table will appear on your
Workflow page.
2) Click on the
“Recall Bid” button below. A pop up window will appear asking you if you want to recall your bid.
3) Click on
“OK".
You can then enter your new bid in the
Assignments table (by clicking on the pencil/edit icon) and click on the
“Place Your Bid” button.
Back to top I submitted a bid for a project but I cannot do it. Can I cancel my bid?
If the Buyer has not yet accepted your bid and sent a purchase order, you can recall your bid. However, once the Buyer has accepted your bid or you have received a purchase order for a project, you are obligated to complete the project.

Verify your account status is set to ‘Active’.
If your account is not active:
1) Set your account status to ‘Active’.
2) Contact your Buyer to request them to re-send you the bid request.
If your account is already active:
1) Click on the
My Account tab at the top.
2) From the table,
Current Projects by Phases, look for
‘Phase 1 – Respond to the request’.
3) Click on it. This will show you all the projects that you have received requests for but have not yet responded to. The type of request for each project is shown in blue, at the bottom.
4) Look for bid request.
You can use the
Advanced search box on the right to view only bid requests on the page. Select
‘Bid Request’ from the drop down menu and click
“Search”.
Still don’t see any bid requests? Contact your Buyer.

Amending a quote/purchase order can only be done after it has been approved. Quote amendments are used in the case additional/less work is required and as a result you need to amend the quote. A quote amendment MUST be confirmed by the Buyer.

Do I have to log in to see my messages if I can read them in my e-mail inbox?
No. However, if you wish to reply to the message, you will have to log into TDABids.com. All correspondence pertaining to a project will come from the TDABids.com system.

Check your Sent box. If you do not a copy of the e-mail you sent, then you have not been sending messages correctly from TDABids.com and the Buyer/LSD did not receive your message. See

Also ask your Buyer to check his/her Inbox in TDABids.com for an e-mail with a reference to the specific project.

I click on the file to download but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

1) Exit the project by clicking on one of the main tabs at the top (

My Projects,
My Profile)
2)

5) Click on the filename. A pop up window should appear asking where you wish to save the file.
6) Select the destination where you wish to save the file and click on
“Ok”.

The ‘Upload/Add files to current folder’ icon is not always visible. It only appears when you are in your root folder and its subdirectories. Your root folder is named after your account name. Upload/Add files to current folder icon will appear at the top, in the first row of the table (same row as Quick Jump). It is depicted by a white page with a green ‘+’ over it.

Each file in TDABids has a
"more" list on the far right. The
“more” list consists of the following functions:
• Open File
• Download
• Info
• Copy
• Move
• Rename
• Delete
To copy a file, simply select
Copy from the
“more” list. A pop up window will appear. Choose the destination to which you wish to copy it to and then click on
"Copy".
To copy more than one file, check the box next to the file name on the left. Click on the
Copy Icon (first row in table) at the top and then select the destination to which you wish to copy the files to. The
Copy Icon is depicted by 2 white pages.

After you upload your files to the
Processed folder, you will need to complete an additional step to notify the Buyer that the completed files are available.
1)
Access your project (If you are not on the project page). Your
Workflow page will appear showing the
Assignments table.
2) Click on the
“Complete Task” button at the bottom.
Important! A pop up window will appear asking,
‘Do you have your translated files uploaded? If no, you should upload processed files.’ If you have not yet uploaded your files, click on the link provided or
“Cancel” and return to
Uploading files.
If you have already uploaded your files, click on
“Complete Project”.
If you do not complete the project, your project status will continue to remain
‘In progress’ Back to top I uploaded a file but the Buyer/LSD cannot see it. What is wrong?
Check to see that you have uploaded the files to the correct project and to the correct folder.
If you are translating, make sure that you have uploaded files to the
Translation folder; proofreading files should be uploaded to the
Proofreading folder.
You may also have some projects of the same name but which are differentiated by their task type or request type. For example,

If you are certain that you have uploaded files to the correct project and folder, and you can see those files in the folder, ask your Buyer to check the folders again. Otherwise, contact the TDABids.com support center via e-mail or telephone.

Your Internet Service Provider may be experiencing problems, affecting the Internet connection. Depending on your ISP the upload speed may be slower than the download speed.

Any changes made after a project has been completed needs to be uploaded to the
Updates folder.

The
Updates folder only becomes available after a task has been completed.
If additional work is required on files you already submitted to the Buyer, you are able to upload modified files to the
Updates folder. Follow the steps outlined in
Uploading files as a translator or
Uploading files as a proofreader. However, instead of selecting the
Processed folder in step 5, select the
Updates folder.

How do I create an invoice in the system?
Currently TDABids.com does not allow you to create an invoice. Invoices should be sent to Buyers via e-mail or postal mail.

Back to top How long does the Buyer have to lodge a complaint once a project's been completed? Are there any exceptions?
Once a file has been uploaded and the project has been completed, the Buyer will have ten days to review the project. During this time the Buyer will have the option to accept, decline, or comment on the translation. If the Buyer takes no action during the ten day period, the project will automatically be considered approved and the Buyer will not be able to to request corrections or post a complaint.
